Personalized Learning is tailored into a different way of teaching in the classroom. The curriculum is centered around to meet the individual needs of a student. When preparing for this class I had to find a video that talked about a way of personalized learning. In this video it is about a website that you can add information for personalized learning. It provides information for people in ways that they can understand it. It talks about how if a student is struggling in reading, is it because they don’t understand the content or they don’t understand the questions so the teacher accommodates to what the student needs and a way they feel comfortable in learning.
Some ways I can use personalized learning when I am a teacher is when teaching subjects. Each student will be taught in a way that they will be able to learn and remember what they learned. If some students need hands on demonstrations then I will do hands on things with them. If some students need to be lectured then I will do so. There are multiple ways that students learn that help them remember. I would accommodate to each and every student. When I am teaching science I could show videos on what experiments I would be doing in the classroom and the students would be able to learn from the video. In math I could teach a lecture and have a video that the students can watch. Also, I would walk around the classroom and help the students individually.
When talking about personalized learning I would have to say that personalized learning is appropriate in the classroom. I would say this because not every student learns the same way. Some students may find hands on learning easier than listening to the teacher explain the subject. Making accommodations for these students can have them learn in a way they are comfortable with. In a normal classroom the teacher accommodates to students that are average, but in a real classroom no student is average. Some students are better at some areas of learning and some are not as good at some areas. There is one thing that I am unsure of about personalized learning. Although there are multiple ways why it is good I think that sometimes it might be hard to assess the students since they are all at a different learning level. Also, having to accommodate to each student may be a little excessive. It may take a lot longer to get all the information to each student when using the different accommodations.
In the photos below the first one is talking about how, what, when, where, and why to use personalized learning in the classroom. The second one is a different approach to personalized learning, self-directed learning. It centers more around the student and the goals of the student and ways you can accommodate to that student. The third picture is just explaining what personalized learning is and the different things that are involved in this type of learning.
All these photos are from google images. I just typed in personalized learning and I picked from them.
